We can recommend the following excursions:
Historical citywalk:
This tour passes the most important historical monuments in Vollenhove. A visit to ‘de Grote Kerk’ (st. Nicolaas church) is included. The main focus is architecture, church interiors and cultures. In the historical garden “Marxveld” you’ll make a leap through history in gardening.
On top of the tower of “de Keine Kerk” you’ll have a view of the gardens and the city. There is a manor in the park “Old Ruitenborgh” which was the city hall for years.
The rest of the scenery goes back to medieval times and the old streets are still recognizable.
Geological tour:
The terrain of Vollenhove is one of the oldest moraines in the Netherlands. Around the moraines is a field of moss. This trip passes:
- The geological monument (moraines)
- Visitor’s Center “De Wieden”
- Drilling
- A trip over the moraines and characteristic farms and the castle “de Oldenhof”
You will be guided by a historian and there are possibilities to adjust the programme to your needs.
